There's a New ROBOCOP Film in Development That Will Be a Direct Sequel To the Original First Film

It looks like we might actually get another RoboCop film and fans of the original 1987 film and there's reason for fans of the original film to get excited about it. The script is being written by original Robocop screenwriter Ed Neumeier, and it will be a sequel that ignores the events that took place in Robocop 2, Robocop 3, and the 2014 remake. During an interview with Zeitgeist Entertainment Magazine, Neumeier said:

"We’re not supposed to say too much. There’s been a bunch of other RoboCop movies and there was recently a remake and I would say this would be kind of going back to the old RoboCop we all love and starting there and going forward. So it’s a continuation really of the first movie. In my mind. So it’s a little bit more of the old school thing."

A new RoboCop movie with that old school feel that we love about the original? Hell, yeah! I think the fans would be down for that! I would have much rather had that than that reboot we got. While the reboot did have some cool moments, it was ultimately a mediocre film.

So, if something actually happens with this sequel to the first RoboCop film, I'd definitely be interested in watching it! What do you think about taking a RoboCop sequel in this direction? What would you like to see in a RoboCop sequel like this?
