There's a Wild Rumor That Michael Bay and Ryan Reynolds' SIX UNDERGROUND is Actually a THUNDERCATS Movie

Update: Screenwriter Rhett Reese denies the rumor:

Here's a crazy rumor that recently broke! As you may have heard, Michael Bay and Ryan Reynolds have been developing a big film at Netflix called Six Underground. The movie has been described as a war movie and it is said to have an extremely high budget of $150 million. That would be Netflix's biggest budget film to date.

IGN is now reporting that the film will be shot in Abu Dhabi in the Middle East of November of this year. They also say that Six Underground is actually going to be a film adaptation of the classic 80s cartoon series Thundercats!?

IGN is a pretty reliable source, but this sounds crazy! It was previously reported that the script for the film came from Deadpool scribes Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese. ThunderCats seems like it would be something they would write.

The site says the tip comes from a reliable source that "is working closely with the Abu Dhabi production team for the movie." It is the same source that gave them info about Simon Pegg being cast in Star Wars Episode VII, which ultimately turned out to be true.

Apparently, the whole Six Underground title is just a codename used to avoid any leaks, and keep the details on the production a secret.

It'll be interesting to see how this rumor plays out. I'll be honest, though... I kinda hope it's true. Can you imagine Ryan Reynolds in the role of Lion-O! If this is true, we might actually see that! I've always wanted to see a live-action ThunderCats movie and it would be interesting to see what Michael Bay would do with it.

What do you think about this rumor of Bay directing a ThunderCats movie?
