There's Going to Be a Big Shake-Up in Leadership at DC Entertainment

Justice League was DC’s big chance to shine and prove that they could consistently make good superhero movies. Unfortunately, it didn’t get the warm reception that Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment hoped for and needed. After the poor performance of Justice League, it’s only natural for Warner Bros. to look at restructuring that department. Variety stated recently that the man currently running the DC Comics' film production division, Jon Berg, will be moving on to become a production partner with Roy Lee. Talking about this change, Toby Emmerich, Warner Bros. Picture Group President, had this to say:

“This is something that Jon approached me about six months ago, and he expressed his goal was to ultimately be a producer at the studio. I first met Jon when, as a producer, he brought ‘Elf’ to New Line, which remains one of the best and most evergreen titles in the library. We’re thrilled that Jon is partnering with Roy and anticipate their company being a valuable source of movies for Warner Bros. and New Line.”

This move does leave Berg’s old position vacant. No names have been given of possible candidates, but there is a possibility that Geoff Johns may take over as more of an advisor for the films. Johns currently reports to Diane Nelson who is the president of DC, and his main areas of work are in television, publishing, and consumer products. He has contributed to the film projects before, but it looks like how much he contributes to them may change. Variety’s sources also mention that it’s possible the DC film operations will be moved more and more under the main studio as opposed to being in a different building.
