THIRTEEN GHOSTS Is Reportedly Getting a Series Adaptation

Dark Castle is reportedly developing a series adaptation of the horror film Thirteen Ghosts. Dread Central reports that Patrick Mediate of Primordial Pictures and SFX supervisor for Fear the Walking Dead and Aaron McLane announced they are teaming up with Dark Castle to pitch the series for Sony Pictures Television.

I’m a big fan of the original 1960 version of 13 Ghosts by director William Castle. I remember watching that movie as a kid and absolutely loving it! There was a remake that was released in 2001 and it was ok. The movie had a great cast!

I think a series could be interesting as it will focus on each of the ghost’s backstories. The pitch is that series will consist of thirteen episodes with an anthology style that dives into a different ghost with each episode. It’s explained by the creators of the show:

“Every culture in the world has its ghost stories, and this re-imagining of 13 Ghosts presents an international sampling of these supernatural tales. The ghost stories within each episode will have their own stylistic look and feel that will be explored and influenced by each individual director. This makes our ghost vignettes stand out stylistically as they set the theme for each episode.”

This sounds like it could be a really fun and interesting horror series! I hope that Sony Pictures picks it upo! What do you think of the idea? Here are the original trailers for the two films.
