Here's How to Avoid Those New Netflix Ads For Now

TV NetflixAds by Tommy Williams

Chances are, you’ve heard that Netflix is testing the waters of putting 30-second ads to advertise other content between episodes. This would disrupt your weekend binge but has the potential to introduce you to your new favorite show. If you are strongly opposed to these ads, there’s a way to delay their implementation on your account. Before I show you how to do it, it’s important to note that this will only work while Netflix is testing the feature. As soon as it becomes a standard part of Netflix, you’re out of luck.

First, log in to Netflix on a computer (this may work on a phone or tablet, but I ran into errors when I tried) and select your profile if you have multiple set up. In the upper right corner there’s your profile icon. Hover your mouse over it and a drop-down will appear. Click on Account.

Then, under Settings, you’ll see Test Participation. Click on that.

Now, just click the blue bar that says “On” and it will change to “Off.” Click Done and you’re good to go!

There’s no way to know how long before Netflix puts the ads in permanently, so you might as well enjoy it while you can. If you don’t mind the ads, have they steered you towards anything great?
