THIS IS SPINAL TAP Is Getting a Sequel With Director Rob Reiner and the Original Cast!

The greatest movie news just dropped today! The classic 1994 rock and roll mockumentary This is Spinal Tap is getting a sequel! This is one of my favorite comedies of all time. It’s freakin’ hilarious, and while I’ve seen it hundreds of times, it always makes me laugh. I couldn’t be more excited and happy that we are actually getting a sequel to this film!

Original director Rob Reiner is returning to helm the film and he will be joined by original cast members Michael McKean, Christopher Guest and Harry Shearer.

It’s explained that the sequel will be “in the style of Martin Scorsese’s The Last Waltz, the legendary concert documentary that followed the farewell tour of the Canadian American rock group The Band.” The movie will also feature real-life musicians in the film but no names have been revealed.

The first film chronicled the lives of the fictional English heavy metal band members played by McKean as David St. Hubbins, Guest as Nigel Tufnel, and Shearer as Derek Smalls, during their American tour. The movie “shines a light on the self-contained universe of a metal band struggling to get back on the charts, including everything from its complicated history of ups and downs, gold albums, name changes and undersold concert dates, along with the full host of requisite groupies, promoters, hangers-on and historians, sessions, release events and those special behind-the-scenes moments that keep it all real.”

If you haven’t watched This is Spinal Tap, you need to remedy that right now. It’s one of the funniest damn films you’ll ever see.

The movie will be released on March 19th, 2024, tied to the 40th anniversary of the original. I’m so excited about this! My excitement is dialed up to 11!
