This Japanese Poster for ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL is Pretty Cool - “The Angel Awakens Into a Warrior”

Alita: Battle Angel may have been pushed back, but we have a new poster that seems to kick things up a notch. Most of the clips I’ve seen look interesting, but don’t seem to point to any kind of “Battle Angel” but rather just someone fighting to defend themselves.

This poster wants to help change my mind. We see Alita using what appears to be blood as war paint under her eye. The poster also features the tagline, “The angel awakens into a warrior.”

James Cameron is producing and Robert Rodriguez is directing the film which will be based on the Gunnm graphic novel series by Yukito Kishiro. Rosa Salazar and Christoph Waltz will star alongside Jennifer Connely, Mahershala Ali, Ed Skrein, and Jackie Earle Haley.

Here’s the synopsis for the film:

Set several centuries in the future, the abandoned Alita is found in the scrapyard of Iron City by Ido, a compassionate cyber-doctor who takes the unconscious cyborg Alita to his clinic. When Alita awakens, she has no memory of who she is, nor does she have any recognition of the world she finds herself in. As Alita learns to navigate her new life and the treacherous streets of Iron City, Ido tries to shield her from her mysterious past.

Alita: Battle Angel will be released February 14, 2019. You can watch the latest trailer of the film here.
