This Scene in STAR WARS: REVENGE OF THE SITH Involves a Surprising CGI Anakin Skywalker

A VFX artist that worked on the Star Wars prequel films, Juan-Luis Sanchez, recently revealed that a key moment from Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith involves a full CGI version of Anakin Skywalker. A lot of fans are actually surprised by the reveal because no one really noticed it until it was pointed out.

The scene involves an overhead shot of Anakin marching into the Jedi Temple with an army of Clone Troopers to execute Order 66. That scene does not include actor Hayden Christensen being physically present in the scene. Sanchez explained on Twitter:

"CG Anakin. I simmed this shot. Getting a billowy cloak to feel natural and also dramatic is a roll of the dice. This simulation came out in one or two takes, a complete fluke. I think I simmed it a couple more times in disbelief. But the 1st takes were the best"

It’s easy to tell that the Clone Troopers are CG, but because that billowy cloak of Anakin is done so well, a lot of fans didn’t realize he was CGI as well. Pretty cool!
