This Shot From Marvel's THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER Trailer Was Pulled Right From the Comics

The first trailer for Marvel’s Thor: Love and Thunder was released yesterday and it was filled with so much cool and vibrant footage! There’s one shot in particular that was actually pulled straight out of the comics!

The shot in question features Thor and Korg standing on top of a snowy rock looking at a giant beast lying dead on the ground in front of them. This is based on an image drawn by comic artist Esad Ribic in writer Jason Aaron’s Thor: God of Thunder comic book run.

You can see the two shots below side-by-side. It’s pretty cool as the shot from the movie is pretty much an exact replication of the panel from the comics.

Ribic is also the creator of Gor the God Butcher, who is being played by Christian Bale in the movie, but we have yet to get an official look at him. The team behind this comic run also told the story of Jane Foster taking up Mjolnir and becoming The Mighty Thor, which is a huge influence on the upcoming film.

Fans are seriously pumped for the movie and we can’t wait to see more footage from it!

The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) “on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.”

Thor: Love and Thunder opens in theaters July 8th, 2022.
