THOR Director Kenneth Branagh Had a Cameo in AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR
Here's a fun bit of Avengers: Infinity War trivia that I wasn't aware of until now. It turns out that the director of Thor, Kenneth Branagh, made a little cameo in the film. The cameo was revealed by director Joe Russo in the commentary track of the Digital HD release of the film.
Remember the Asgardian distress signal that was sent out at the beginning of the film while Thanos and the Black Order are going around finishing off people? We hear a voice over the radio say:
"This is the Asgardian refugee vessel Statesman… We are under assault. I repeat, we are under assault. Engines are dead. Life support failing. Requesting aid from any vessel within range. Our crew is made up of Asgardian families, we have very few soldiers here. This is not a warcraft. I repeat, this is NOT a warcraft."
It's the very first line of dialogue in the film and it was Kenneth Branagh who delivered it. I thought that was pretty cool! In regards to that, Russo said:
"This was an amazing surprise, by the way. We had this idea very late in editorial, to ask the amazing Sir Kenneth Branagh to come in and do the opening distress call over the logo that sets the stage and carries us into the scene with Thor and Thanos and Loki on the arc."
It makes sense to see Branagh do this and it's great that he was willing to be a part of it. Screenwriter Stephen McFeely went on to talk about the dialogue and how it helped set up the film’s dire stakes even before it really began:
"This is a movie that starts in medias res, right? It’s so packed and jam-packed with stuff, that you even have to use the opening credits to tell a story."
What do you think about Branagh's little cameo in Avengers: Infinity War?
