THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER Concept Art Features Miek's New Look and Korg's Culture will Be Explored
During a recent live-commentary of Thor: Ragnarok, director Taika Waititi shared a few things regarding his next Marvel movie Thor: Love and Thunder.
We already reported he will include Space Sharks in the film and that it will make Ragnarok feel “really safe.” The director amusingly explained:
“It makes Ragnarok feel like a really run-of-the-mill, really safe film. This new movie feels like we asked a bunch of 10-year-olds what they wanted to see and then just said yes to every single thing.”
Waititi also shared some new concept art from the film. Some of that features a new look for Miek and New Asgard. He also teased that Korg’s culture will be explored further in the movie, saying:
“We do touch on Korg’s — how should I say it? — culture. Where he’s from… a few of the cultural specificities of Kronans… if you look in the comics there’s some stuff about how they procreate”
You can check out that concept art below:
It’s a little strange seeing Miek in a robotic mech-like suit and then there’s the actual suit that the character’s wearing. Is Miek working an office job now? Waititi did tease that things were going to get weirder, so this is just a little taste of that.
Also, don’t expect Silver Surfer to show up in the film. The director shot that rumor down quick.
Thor: Love and Thunder is being written by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Someone Great). Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson will return as Thor and Valkyrie, and Natalie Portman is also set to reprise her role as Jane Foster and will wield the mighty Mjolnir. Christian Bale will portray the main villain in the film.
The female Thor storyline is based on Jason Aaron’s run on The Mighty Thor, the story of which follows a cancer-stricken Jane Foster who takes up the mantle and powers of Thor. We don’t know for sure yet if the cancer element will be a part of the film’s story.
