THOR: RAGNAROK Director and Stars Weigh in on CIVIL WAR

Thor wasn’t around for the events of Captain America: Civil War because he’s busy trying to get Loki off the throne in Asgard or he’s battling Hulk on some gladiator planet or he’s making out with Jane Foster one last time before she’s written out. The man has a lot on his plate, is what I am saying. But even if he couldn’t join the fight between the good guys and the other good guys who just see things a little differently, that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t have had an opinion, and Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi and stars Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston have all weighed in on what that would be.

The ever delightful Waititi told Fandango, “We've talked a little bit about this. Personally, I feel Thor would have started his own team. He wouldn't have liked the idea of those teams. But, even though Thor is from outer space and he lives in a palace, part of me likes to think he would side with Cap.”

As for the director himself? “I would side with Cap purely because I don't trust billionaires.”

At Wizard World in Philadelphia this month, Hemsworth and Hiddleston talked about Civil War during a Q&A after a fan asked about Thor’s absence.

According to Hemsworth, Thor would “be like, 'Sort it out, idiots. This is silly.' I don't know. I'm not sure how that story's going to go when Thor comes back. But I think it will come as quite a shock that they all aren't getting along — having a bit of a tiff.”

And what about Loki? Have we forgotten him again? That poor trickster god just never gets the respect he deserves… Anyway, Hiddleston thinks Loki would be “really upset that he wasn't involved.” He also said, “Loki's going to come back and lead them all.” The first part is accurate. No one loves drama more than Loki, and Lord knows he would try to get into the middle of it, but I think Loki coming back might be the one thing that would make our heroes set aside their differences and come together. Well, that or some massive conflict with Thanos.

Thor: Ragnarok is set to begin production this summer and will hit theaters on November 3, 2017. Waititi’s latest film, Hunt for the Wilderpeople, will be in theaters June 24.
