Thrilling Trailer for Michael Mann's HBO Max Series TOKYO VICE Starring Ansel Elgort
HBO Max has released the first trailer for director Michael Mann’s new series Tokyo Vice! I’m a huge fan of Mann’s work, and this is a show that I’ve been looking forward to watching. It looks like a great and thrilling series!
This Japanese and English-language crime drama is based on Jake Adelstein’s non-fiction first-hand account of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police beat. Ansel Elgort stars in the series and takes on the role of Adelstein, “the first foreigner working the crime beat for a Japanese newspaper and spent 12 years there.”
The series recounts Adelstein’s “first-hand account of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police beat as he embeds himself into the Tokyo vice squad to reveal corruption. The series chronicles Adelstein’s daily descent into the sordid underbelly of Tokyo, where nothing and no one is truly what or who they seem.”
Ken Watanabe joins Elgort in the series and is joined by Rachel Keller, Ella Rumpf, Kikuchi Rinko, Kasamatsu Sho, Yamashita Tomohisa, Sugata Shun, Hagiwara Masato, Tanida Ayumi, and Toyohara Kosuke.
The series was created, written, and executive produced by J.T. Rogers, and Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) also directs some episodes of the series.
Tokyo Vice will be released on HBO Max on April 7th.
