The Board Game TICKET TO RIDE is Becoming a TV Competition Series
There are some board games out there that could have some pretty cool film or TV adaptations. Mice and Mystics has a story written in the game, Pandemic would be fairly easy to pull off, and of course Clue has already been masterfully done. Of all the board games I love that I would even consider getting a TV series, Ticket to Ride is not one of them. If you’re unfamiliar with the game, it’s all about creating the longest train routes to connect cities in a country/continent. Doesn’t really sound TV worthy, but Asmodee Entertainment has decided that it can make a great competition series and they’ve partnered with Propagate to make it happen. Here’s the premise:
“The television adaptation will be a winner-take-all travel competition series in which five teams take the journey of a lifetime as they seek to complete epic challenges and rack up the most miles by air, land and sea.”
I’m still not sure how this is going to work. Are the teams given unlimited money, or is that part of the challenge? Wouldn’t it be something that after the first season, people would figure out the ideal strategy? Well, it’ll be interesting to see how this whole thing pans out. It also looks like we might want to expect more board games turned into TV series as Asmodee’s President, Stéphane Carville, said this in a statement:
“Asmodee Entertainment will develop new and exciting entertainment experiences based on the vibrant universes of our popular games. We are delighted to bring one of our most iconic properties to life with the help of our visionary partners at Propagate. We look forward to future collaborations.”
What board games do you think would make a good TV series?
