Tim Allen Reveals Funny Buzz Lightyear B-Plot That He Hopes Makes It Into Final Cut of TOY STORY 5
As much as fans are nervous about each of the subsequent Toy Story sequels after the third one felt like an ending, I think we can all relax and trust that the writers and creators have a good story to tell. The fourth film was fun, and from the sound of it, Toy Story 5 will also have some humorous elements.
Actor Tim Allen, who has voiced the heroic character Buzz Lightyear in each of the films, appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! this week to promote the second season of his ABC sitcom Shifting Gears. He was asked about Toy Story 5, and he relayed a B-plot for the film that sounds like it will be pretty great:
“The funniest thing to me is that there's a plane crash like that Hanks movie - I dunno, Tom somebody - on the island where a FedEx plane or something with 100 Buzz dolls lands, and they’re all lost. They're the B story.
“It’s hysterical. They’re trying to find their way back, and there are a hundred of them. I hope they have it in there.”
That sounds like more work for Allen, but it sounds like it would be fun to watch! It’s also pretty humorous that Allen gave Hanks a playful little jab in his comment, pretending not to remember his name, or the name of his movie Cast Away. It’s all in good fun, as the pair have always presented as friends.
Hopefully this subplot makes it into the final cut. We will see when Toy Story 5 is released on June 19, 2026.
