Tim Burton Is Developing a Live-Action THE ADDAMS FAMILY TV Series with the Team Behind SMALLVILLE
Tim Burton is looking to make the move into TV is a live-action series adaption of The Addams Family. This would be Burton’s first big live-action TV series, and he is currently negotiating to direct all of the episodes and executive produce the show.
It’s also reported that Smallville developers, writers, and executive producers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar will be the head writers on the show and will also serve as showrunners. So, there’s a great team of talent coming together to make this happen!
The Addams Family is a perfect property for Burton to take on as his visual style and way of storytelling will perfectly translate to this wonderfully creepy and kooky family.
The new live-action series is rumored to be “set in present times and be from the perspective of Wednesday Addams and what the world would look like to her in 2020.”
The Addams Family was created by American cartoonist Charles Addams in 1938 as a comic strip, and there have been a number of screen iterations over the years including two live-action TV series, a film franchise, and most recently an animated movie from MGM with the sequel coming in 2021.
MGM TV is financing the development of the series, and there are multiple buyers currently bidding for it, including Netflix, which the report says is at the top of the list of landing the project.
It’ll be interesting to see how this new Addams Family project turns out under Burton’s direction. Is this a project that you’d be interested in seeing?
