Tim Burton’s Live-Action DUMBO adds Alan Arkin
Tim Burton's live-action Dumbo movie has added new cast member Alan Arkin. The cast in Disney’s live-action adaptation of Dumbo already includes Colin Farrell, Eva Green, Michael Keaton, and Danny DeVito. Nico Parker and Finley Hobbins will also appear in their first film roles.
The original story followed an baby circus elephant who strives to achieve his full potential.
In this reimagining, the film follows Holt Farrier, a former circus star who finds his life turned upside down when he returns from the war. Circus owner Max Medici enlists Holt to care for a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him a laughingstock in an already struggling circus. But when Holt’s children discover that Dumbo can fly, persuasive entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere and an aerial artist named Colette Marchant swoop in to make the peculiar pachyderm a star.
Arkin will take on the role of J Griffin Remington, who is described as a Wall Street tycoon.
The studio’s emphasis on live-action reboots follows the success of Cinderella, The Jungle Book, and most recently, Beauty and the Beast. Disney is currently working on more remakes, inclucing The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Mulan, and other animated classics in the works as well.
Dumbo is currently in production in London from a script written by Ehren Kruger, and it's set to bow on March 29, 2019.
