Tim Robbins Says THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION Was The Best Script He Ever Read
One of my favorite movies of all time is Frank Darabont's adaptation of Stephen King's novella Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption which ended up being called The Shawshank Redemption. I just love that story and actor Tim Robbins believes that it was the best script that he had ever read.
While talking with Variety at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival, the actor talked about the film's popularity, saying:
"It did take me by surprise when it first happened. I thought the film was really great. I thought the script was the best script I’ve ever read, and I thought there was a great movie made of it. To have that kind of recognition and acknowledgement by so many people — it’s one of those bucket list things. It takes a lot of pressure off of you."
The movie was initially a box office bomb, many believe that the reasoning for that was the title of the movie. It was also nominated for seven Academy Awards that it totally deserved to win but it didn't win any of them, which is kind of shocking considering how amazing the movie was.
This is one of those films that I can watch over and over again and never get tired of. In fact, I think I'm going to watch it again right now.
