Tim Robbins To Star New HBO Series From SIX FEET UNDER and TRUE BLOOD Creator Alan Ball

The creator of Six Feet Under and True Blood, Alan Ball, is developing a new series for HBO! There’s no title for it yet, but it’s set to star Tim Robbins and Holly Hunter.

I’m a fan of the series that Ball has developed, and this new one definitely sounds interesting. Ball wrote all 10 episodes of the series, and according to Deadline, it’s a family drama that focuses on a multiracial family. This is what it’s about:

Philosophy professor Greg Bishop (Robbins), his lawyer wife Audrey (Hunter), their three adopted children from Somalia (Jerrika Hinton), Vietnam (Raymond Lee) and Colombia (Daniel Zovatto), and their sole biological child (Sosie Bacon). This seemingly perfect, progressive family is in actuality harboring deep rifts. Then, one of the children begins to see things others cannot. Is it mental illness? Or something else? The series is a tragicomic meditation on the complicated forces at work on us all in America today. Robbins’ Greg questions his life, his purpose, and the world in which he lives – a world in which it seems the bad guys have won – and his strained relationship with his wife Audrey adds to his overall anxiety.

It definitely sounds like the kind of story that you’d expect from Ball. He always brings something special to the shows he makes, and this new series sounds like it won’t be an exception. It sounds like it will be a fantastic series with an intriguing concept and subject matter that will draw in the viewers. I can already see myself getting sucked into this show.
