Timothée Chalamet Plays Henry V in First Trailer for Netflix's THE KING
Netflix has released the first trailer for their upcoming film The King, which is inspired by elements of Shakespeare’s Henry IV and Henry V. The story follows "a young, disgraced prince named Hal, who inherits the crown and must learn what it means to be a king, guided by his one true friend, Falstaff.”
The film has an impressive cast that includes Timothée Chalamet in the lead role and he is joined by Ben Mendelsohn as King Henry IV, Robert Pattinson as The Dauphin, Sean Harris as William, Lily-Rose Depp in the role of Princess Catherine,Tom Glynn-Carney as Hotspur, and Thomasin Harcourt McKenzie as Philippa. Joel Edgerton also is in the film and he co-wrote it as well.
The film was directed by David Michod (Animal Kingdom, The Rover) and this is the synopsis that was released:
Hal (Timothée Chalamet), wayward prince and reluctant heir to the English throne, has turned his back on royal life and is living among the people. But when his tyrannical father dies, Hal is crowned King Henry V and is forced to embrace the life he had previously tried to escape. Now the young king must navigate the palace politics, chaos and war his father left behind, and the emotional strings of his past life — including his relationship with his closest friend and mentor, the ageing alcoholic knight, John Falstaff (Joel Edgerton).
The King looks like a great film and it will debut on Netflix sometime in 2019.
