Timothy Dalton Joins DC's DOOM PATROL as The Chief

I thought I was going to be getting DC Universe so I could watch Titans, but after the trailer we got I had written the whole service off. However, I’m now wondering if the real gem is going to be Doom Patrol. THR is now reporting that Timothy Dalton is set to star in the series as Dr. Niles “The Chief” Caulder.

Dalton will take on the role of Dr. Niles “The Chief” Caulder, who is described as a pioneer in medical science, searching the world over for those on the edge of death in need of a miracle. Brilliant but controversial, Dr. Caulder will stop at nothing to help those he believes are in need, including his collection of strange heroes known as the Doom Patrol.

Dalton joins the likes of Alan Tudyk as Mr. Nobody, Brendan Frasier as Robotman, April Bowlby as Elsti-Woman, Diane Guerrero as Crazy Jane, Dwain Murphy as Negative Man, and Joivan Wade as Cyborg. You can see some of the characters these actors play in some set photos here. Are you excited to see Dalton as The Chief?

DOOM PATROL is a re-imagining of one of DC’s most beloved group of outcast Super Heroes: Robotman, Negative Man, Elasti-Girl and Crazy Jane, led by modern-day mad scientist Dr. Niles Caulder (The Chief). The Doom Patrol’s members each suffered horrible accidents that gave them superhuman abilities—but also left them scarred and disfigured. Traumatized and downtrodden, the team found purpose through The Chief, who brought them together to investigate the weirdest phenomena in existence—and to protect Earth from what they find. Part support group, part Super Hero team, the Doom Patrol is a band of super-powered freaks who fight for a world that wants nothing to do with them. Picking up after the events of TITANS, DOOM PATROL will find these reluctant heroes in a place they never expected to be, called to action by none other than Cyborg, who comes to them with a mission hard to refuse, but with a warning that is hard to ignore: their lives will never, ever be the same.

Doom Patrol is being written by Jeremy Carver who will executive produce it alongside Geoff Johns, Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter

The series received a 13-episode straight-to-series order and it will begin production this year for a 2019 premiere on DC Universe.
