Timur Bekmambetov, who is best known for the wild action film Wanted and the crazy-ass first-person live-action shooter Hardcore Henry, has found a new project to work on.

The filmmaker is set to adapt Julian Terry’s horror short Don’t Peek into a full-length feature film. Don’t Peek is a follow-up short to They Hear It, which was picked up by Legendary, and Whisper, which was acquired by Amblin.

Don’t Peek made its world premiere on March 15th at SXSW Online. The story follows “a young woman discovering a frightening video game character intent on crossing into the real world.” In the short film, the video game the girl is playing is Animal Crossing.

You can watch the short film below to get a better idea of the concept and what you can expect to see in the film. It’s actually a fun and creepy horror short worth checking out. I enjoyed it. It scared my kids and now they won’t play Animal Crossing alone.

Make sure to watch with headphones and don't play Animal Crossing late at night...Made with 3 people and a Blackmagic pocket camera during quarantine! BTS @J...
