Tina Fey Credits TBS To MEAN GIRLS' Continued Relevance In Pop Culture
It's been 14 years since Mean Girls was in theaters, and people are still reprimanding others for trying to make "fetch," happen or tweeting out references to the movie on October 3rd. With the film's official musical about to open on Broadway, Tina Fey shared with Variety why she thinks the film is still relevant almost a decade and a half later:
I think so much of that credit goes to TBS. Isn’t it always on TBS? Thank you, TBS!
Fey speaks the truth, but it's also because Mean Girls is a damn good film that picked a pretty relevant part of the teenage experience to capture. High school is rough, teens are mean, and learning that cutting others down to feel better about yourself isn't a great way to live is a lesson not everyone learns in life. I also like the part where Damien yells, "SHE DOESN'T EVEN GO HERE!" So yeah, that's why I think this film is still popular today. What's your take?
