TMNT x G.I. Joe Action Figures Unite in an Epic ‘80s Toy Crossover From Hasbro and Playmates

The worlds of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and G.I. Joe are officially colliding in a brand-new line of crossover action figures, and it feels like the kind of toy aisle dream match that could only have been cooked up in the 1980s.

As Playmates gears up to pass the TMNT toy license to Mattel in 2027 after nearly four decades, they’re making sure the Heroes in a Half-Shell go out swinging with a mashup that taps straight into vintage action figure glory.

The new TMNT x G.I. Joe line reimagines the Turtles, their allies, and their enemies through the lens of classic Joe characters. The 4.5 to 5.25-inch figures blend the DNA of both franchises, complete with character-specific accessories and retro-inspired packaging that pulls from the iconic aesthetics of both original toy lines.

Leonardo steps into the role of Snake Eyes. Donatello channels Dial-Tone. Michelangelo takes on Shipwreck. Raphael becomes Roadblock. And April O’Neil joins the team as Scarlett, complete with a crossbow video camera accessory that perfectly fuses her reporter roots with Joe hardware.

Of course, you can’t have Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or G.I. Joe without a solid lineup of villains. Shredder assumes command as Cobra Commander, Krang transforms into Destro, and Slash slices in as Storm Shadow. Bebop and Rocksteady round out the rogue’s gallery as Ripper and Buzzer.

It’s a lineup that feels ripped straight out of a kid’s imagination from decades ago.

The crossover doesn’t stop at figures. Two vehicle sets are also joining the party, leaning heavily into G.I. Joe’s military hardware style. First up is the Turtle-Fly copter, equipped with spinning katana helicopter blades, firing missiles, and a rappel line for aerial assaults.

Then there’s the AWE Shell-Striker, an all-terrain scout vehicle with working missile launchers and enough room to mount the entire Turtle squad. It even includes an exclusive version of the April as Scarlett figure.

Everything about this TMNT x G.I. Joe collection feels like a celebration of action figure history. The sculpted details, hybrid character designs, and throwback packaging are clearly aimed at longtime collectors while still being cool enough for a new generation of fans discovering these franchises.

The TMNT x G.I. Joe action figures and vehicles are set to hit shelves this summer. With Playmates preparing to hand off the TMNT toy license after almost 40 years, this crossover feels like a fitting send-off.

If you grew up with these brands or still have a soft spot for ‘80s action figures, this is one nostalgic team-up you’re going to want in your collection.
