TO ALL THE BOYS Author Jenny Han Sets Up Series Adaptation of Novel THE SUMMER I TURNED PRETTY at Amazon
To All the Boys author Jenny Han has seen a lot of success over the last few years as her book series was adapted at Netflix beginning with 2018’s To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, then 2020’s To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You, and this year’s To All the Boys: Always and Forever, set to hit the streamer this Friday.
Now the author has a new deal coming to series at Amazon. Her novel The Summer I Turned Pretty has been given an eight-episode order. This book is also the first in a trilogy, so it’s a perfect project to take on in series form. Han wrote the pilot for the series and will also serve as executive producer and co-showrunner. Gabrielle Stanton will also executive produce and co-showrun. Karen Rosenfelt will also serve as executive producer along with Paul Lee, Nne Ebong, and Hope Hartman for wiip. The series is a co-production between Amazon Studios and wiip.
Variety reports the following rundown of the story:
“The Summer I Turned Pretty” is described as a multigenerational drama that hinges on a love triangle between one girl and two brothers, the ever-evolving relationship between mothers and their children, and the enduring power of strong female friendship. It is a coming-of-age story about first love, first heartbreak, and the magic of that one perfect summer.
This sounds like another great project that will have a big following from fans of the book as well as fans of the Netflix films from the author. Does this sound like a series you might like?
