Todd McFarlane Has Completed His SPAWN Movie Script and Hopes to Make a Big Announcement at Comic-Con

Spawn creator Todd McFarlane has been talking about his new Spawn film project for years! Every time he talks about it, he says he's still working on the script. It seemed like he would never finish that damn thing! Well, McFarlane just announced that he has actually completed the script!

He made the announcement in the video below and he even shows off a page of the script. He explains that Twitch will play a big part in the story. McFarlane also says that as of right now there's no studio or production company attached to the project, but that he has had inquiries from fourteen interested parties. The project is definitely being persued and he seems confident that he will be able to make a big announcement regarding the movie at San Diego Comic-Con this July.

He hopes to have a production company on board to produce the film and a start date for filming so that he can give the fans what they've been asking for. Even though the project has momentum and things are moving forward, it doesn't mean the movie will get made. However, the script is finally finished which is a great first step to making it happen.

I think McFarlane's approach to the story is great. He's likened Spawn to Jaws and previously explained:

"The world's going to be real, except for one thing that's going to move. You're never going to see a dude in a rubber suit....This is going to be my Jaws shark.
"In the background, there’s this thing moving around, this boogeyman. That boogeyman just happens to be something that you and I, intellectually, know is Spawn. Will he look like he did in the first movie? No. Will he have a supervillain he fights? No. He’s going to be the spectre, the ghost."

I hope McFarlane can pull it off!
