Todd McFarlane's SPAWN Might Also Be Getting a New Animated Series

On top of the new live-action actor Spawn movie that is being written and directed by Todd McFarlane, it sounds like we might also eventually see a new animated series!

I don't know if you remember or not, but back in the late 90s HBO ran three seasons of an animated Spawn series that was freakin' fantastic! If you've never seen that series before, you really need to check it out. Spawn was voiced by the great Keith David, and the series won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Animation Program.

When talking to Screen Geek about the what else was in store for the Spawn franchise, Todd McFarlane said:

"I’m going to get the movie out and then we still have the rights for TV and animation. We’ll just figure it out."

If the movie ends up being a success, not only will we see sequels, but it sounds to me like he would like to jump back into an animated series as well sometime in the future.

After the HBO series ended, an animated film went into development, but it ended up dying for one reason or another. Regardless, I'd love to see a new Spawn animated series, especially if they brought back the original team from the 90s to do it! Fans would probably flip their shit if that happened! A lot of those guys that worked on it were the same guys who worked on Batman: The Animated Series

If McFarlane does end up moving forward with another animated series, it most likely won't happen until the movie is complete.

Would you like to see a new Spawn animated series happen?
