Tom Cruise and Director Doug Liman Developing Deep Sea Horror Film DEEPER
Tom Cruise will reunite with Edge of Tomorrow director Doug Liman for a new supernatural horror thriller film project titled Deeper.
This news comes from Showbiz 411. Liman confirmed the news himself saying that he and Cruise “plan for a ‘scary’ movie.” He added, “I have never done one,” said Liman, and neither has Tom Cruise.”
I do have to point out that Cruise did star in The Mummy and Interview with a Vampire, both of which could be considered Horror movies.
The movie is said to be about an astronaut who is exploring a deep-sea trench that contains a sinister, seemingly supernatural threat. My first thought about this is maybe this could be some kind of H.P. Lovecraft-inspired movie.
It will be interesting to see what this next project will be. Cruise and Liman are also developing a sequel to Edge of Tomorrow and then there’s the film that they plan on shooting in space.
Not much else is known about this Deeper project, but it has been in development for about a decade and it’s based on a script from Max Landis.
Multiple actors had been attached to the project over the years including Idris Elba, Bradley Cooper and Gal Gadot. Meanwhile, Kornel Mundruczo and Baltasar Kormakur were once attached to direct Deeper in 2016 and 2019, respectively.
