Tom Cruise Reportedly Halts Production on TOP GUN: MAVERICK So He Can Learn How To Fly a Fighter Jet
In typical Tom Cruise fashion, he has reportedly halted production of Top Gun: Maverick so that he could learn how to fly a fighter jet so he doesn’t have to fake it like he did in the first film.
Like he does in all of his films, he wants to perform the jet stunts himself so that he will make the stunts look as real as possible. This isn’t really surprising, after all he did learn to fly a helicopter for Mission: Impossible - Fallout. A fighter jet is a whole other beast, though!
I think Tom Cruise actually thinks that he’s death proof! Is he!? Maybe! Seriously though, how long is it going to take him to learn how to fly a fighter jet?
Top Gun: Maverick is currently shooting in San Diego with Joseph Kosinski (Tron: Legacy) at the helm.
The sequel centers around Maverick who becomes a Top Gun flight instructor and Goose's son joins the program. The relationship between Maverick and Goose's son is certainly going to make for an interesting story dynamic.
It also stars Miles Teller as Goose's son, Val Kilmer, Glen Powell, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Ed Harris, and Lewis Pullman.
Top Gun: Maverick is set to be released on July 12, 2019.
