Tom Cruise is Teaming Up With Elon Musk’s Space X To Shoot a Movie in Outer Space!

We all knew that the day would come when we see Tom Cruise shoot a movie in outer space! While we all joked about the Cruise going to space in a future Mission: Impossible film, in reality, the actor is teaming up with Elon Musk’s Space X program and NASA to develop the first narrative feature film to be shot in space!

This is a real project that’s in early development. There’s no word on what the story for the action-adventure film will tell, but holy crap! This is kinda insane! I love this! Ya gotta love the hell out of Tom Cruise for taking filmmaking to the next level of awesomeness by shooting a film in freakin’ space!

I would love to be one of Cruise’s co-stars on this movie! It’s going to be interesting to see who else ends up being cast in the project to join Cruise in outer space. I’m sure that by the time the movie starts shooting, Cruise will be certified and ready to pilot the space shuttle into space himself.

This isn’t the first time Cruise has toyed with the idea of shooting a film in space. Twenty years ago director James Cameron talked with Cruise about the possibility of making a film in space together. A couple of years ago Cameron said:

“I actually talked to [Cruise] about doing a space film in space, about 15 years ago. I had a contract with the Russians in 2000 to go to the International Space Station and shoot a high-end 3D documentary there. And I thought, ‘Shit, man, we should just make a feature.’ I said, ‘Tom, you and I, we’ll get two seats on the Soyuz, but somebody’s gotta train us as engineers.’ Tom said, ‘No problem, I’ll train as an engineer.’ We had some ideas for the story, but it was still conceptual.”

I would love it if Cameron ended up jumping on board to direct the movie! I don’t care what you think of Tom Cruise. I love the guy! I love that he puts everything on the line when he makes his movies. He’s the person who goes above and beyond to entertain audiences and his fans. I can’t wait for this movie to get made because I’m gonna watch the shit out of it!
