Tom Cruise Talks About MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 7 and the Most Dangerous Stunt of His Career
Tom Cruise is known for making films and doing his own stunts. The actor has upped the ante year after year, generating videos of him running, jumping, and driving through the most perilous of situations. Now he is back on set for the first time since the pandemic shut down every production, and he is diving right in, attempting his most dangerous stunt ever on the set of Mission: Impossible 7.
In a recent interview with Empire, the actor talked about the technical eventualities that were running through his head on the first day of filming after months of training, as he was hurtling through the sky. He explained:
“If the wind was too strong, it would blow me off the ramp. The helicopter [filming the stunt] was a problem, because I didn’t want to be hammering down that ramp at top speed and get hit by a stone. Or if I departed in a weird way, we didn’t know what was going to happen with the bike. I had about six seconds once I departed the ramp to pull the chute and I don’t want to get tangled in the bike. If I do, that’s not going to end well.”
He went on to talk about how happy he was just be back back on set, saying:
“All those emotions were going through my mind. I was thinking about the people I work with, and my industry. And for the whole crew to know that we’d started rolling on a movie was just a huge relief. It was very emotional, I gotta tell you.”
It’s awesome to see movies filming again, and for the movies we’ve waited a year for to slowly start rolling out. Mission: Impossible 7 is set to be released in theatres on May 27, 2022.
