Tom Felton Leads a Genetic Revolution in Trailer for the Sci-Fi Action Thriller ALTERED
Well Go USA has dropped the trailer for director Timo Vuorensola’s new sci-fi film Altered, and it looks like Harry Potter alum Tom Felton is diving headfirst into a crazy, gritty, dystopian future.
Set in an alternate present where society has been rebuilt after a nuclear war, Altered explores a world divided by DNA. Genetically enhanced humans rule from the top, while ordinary, non-enhanced people, known as “Specials”, struggle to survive on the margins.
Felton plays Leon, one of these outcasts who refuses to accept the oppressive system and joins forces with Chloe (played by Elizaveta Bugulova) to fight back against corruption and inequality.
The official description reads: “‘Fight the system. Change the world.’ In an alternate present where genetic enhancements have become the norm, those who cannot take advantage are pushed into the underground.
“It’s up to a few brave souls to level the playing field for everyone, but every revolution has its cost. From Timo Vuorensola, visionary director of Iron Sky, and Tom Felton comes an exciting new tale of a dystopian Earth in need of a hero in Altered.”
Vuorensola, best known for his cult hit Iron Sky films, steps back into sci-fi territory with this one after directing 97 Minutes and Jeepers Creepers: Reborn. The movie also stars Richard Brake, Aggy K. Adams, and Igor Zhizhikin, and was filmed primarily in Kazakhstan, with its futuristic cityscapes digitally enhanced versions of Astana.
Altered looks like a gritty blend of cyberpunk aesthetics and social commentary set in a world of glowing skylines, body modifications, and rebellion simmering beneath the surface. I seriously doubt it will be able to rise above it’s B-movie roots, but it could be fun.
Well Go USA will release Altered in select U.S. theaters and on VOD starting November 21, 2025.
