Tom Felton on Returning as Draco Malfoy in THE CURSED CHILD - “I’ve Been Warming Up My Pottahs”

It’s been years since Draco Malfoy last sneered “Pottah” on screen, but Tom Felton is ready to bring that to life again, this time under the glow of Broadway lights. The Harry Potter alum is stepping back into his most iconic role for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child , and his excitement about returning to the Wizarding World is contagious.

Felton, who’s long been one of the biggest Wizarding World supporters, is gearing up for his Cursed Child debut on November 11.

In a video shared by the show’s official TikTok account, the actor opened up about the joy (and nostalgia) of stepping back into Malfoy’s shoes:

“I mean the blonde hair will be fun, especially now it’s a wig. I’m most excited about saying some infamous lines that I said as a kid. I’ve been warming up my Pottahs, so that will be fun.”

Hearing Felton talk about practicing his signature “Pottah” surly sent fans into a frenzy. His voice and delivery became iconic throughout the Harry Potter films, and the idea of hearing him drop those lines live in front of an audience is enough to make any Potterhead emotional.

For Felton, though, it’s not just about reliving the past. It’s about connecting with fans in a way he never could while filming the movies.

“I think the best part about it is that this will be in front of a live audience. I’ve only ever seen the result of the Wizarding World after the films have come out, whereas this is in front of people live. So I won’t lie, I’m a little nervous, but in the best way possible.”

Felton has always shown deep appreciation for the Harry Potter community, and now he gets to share that energy face-to-face with fans night after night.

It’s safe to say that Broadway audiences will be packed with a lot of lifelong Potter fans eager to see Felton bring Draco to life again, perhaps with even more depth than before. And while it’s unlikely that more original cast members will join him anytime soon, Felton’s return has sparked plenty of speculation about what could come next.

Could his performance reignite interest in a big-screen version of The Cursed Child? Director Chris Columbus has previously said he’d love to make it happen, though he doubts it will ever come to fruition due to ongoing controversy surrounding J.K. Rowling.

Still, that doesn’t take away from what Felton is accomplishing here. He’s not just revisiting an old role, he’s breathing new life into it.
