Tom Hanks is The Captain Now in Clint Eastwood's SULLY Trailer
Earlier today, I wrote about how Captain Phillips' Oscar nominee Barkhad Abdi has joined the cast of Blade Runner 2, and it looks like today is a big day for the actors in that particular film: Abdi's co-star, a little-known actor by the name of Tom Hanks, is playing Captain "Sully" Sullenberger in a new film by Clint Eastwood called Sully, and that movie's first trailer has just landed. Though it does seem to share a bit of DNA with Robert Zemeckis' own plane movie, Flight, this one thankfully looks better than Eastwood's recent directorial efforts. Check it out below and let us know what you think.
Sully hits theaters on September 9, 2016.
On January 15, 2009, the world witnessed the “Miracle on the Hudson” when Captain “Sully” Sullenberger glided his disabled plane onto the frigid waters of the Hudson River, saving the lives of all 155 aboard. However, even as Sully was being heralded by the public and the media for his unprecedented feat of aviation skill, an investigation was unfolding that threatened to destroy his reputation and his career.
“Sully” also stars Aaron Eckhart (“Olympus Has Fallen,” “The Dark Knight”) as Sully’s co-pilot, Jeff Skiles, and Oscar nominee Laura Linney (“The Savages,” “Kinsey,” Showtime’s “The Big C”) as Sully’s wife, Lorraine Sullenberger.
