Tom Hanks To Reprise His Role of David S. Pumpkins in Animated Halloween Special!

I'm excited to share the news that Tom Hanks will be reprising his role of his SNL character David S. Pumpkins in a new animated Halloween special being developed at NBC!

I love Tom Hanks and I love this amusing character that he plays! According to Variety, “The David S. Pumpkins Halloween Special” "is based on the viral “Haunted Elevator” sketch from the Oct. 22, 2016 SNL telecast that featured Hanks as mystery man David S. Pumpkins, on an elevator wearing a pumpkin suit and surrounded by two skeleton dancers, played by Mikey Day and Bobby Moynihan."

As far as the story for the special goes, It will be set in a small suburban town on All Hallows’ Eve and "centers on David Pumpkins and his skeleton sidekicks who show a young boy and his sister the true meaning of Halloween, answering none of their questions along the way."

To make things even better, Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage will provide the voice of one of the characters in the Special as well! How freakin' cool is that!?

George Cheeks, president of business operations and late night programming for NBC had this to say in a statement:

“It’s scary how quickly the original ‘SNL’ sketch caught on, and we’re thrilled that Tom Hanks is back to keep the fun going."

This is going to be great and I'm pumped up about watching it. I also love that we are getting a new animated Halloween special!

The half-hour special will air on Saturday, October 28th at 11:30pm ET/PT.
