Tom Hardy and Ridley Scott are Teaming Up For a Navy SEAL Film Called WAR PARTY

Netflix continues to make big deals with big talent to make original movies for them and their subscribers. They just picked up a film pitch for a movie called War Party that will star Tom Hardy. They made a seven-figure deal for the project, and it doesn't hurt that they have Ridley Scott on board to produce it.

The film is being co-written by Andrew Dominik, who is also set to direct the film. If you aren't familiar with that name, he directed Brad Pitt and Casey Affleck in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. If you haven't seen that movie yet, you really need to because it's a stunning film.

There isn't much know about the story for the film, but we know that it based on a true story that follows a team of real-life Navy SEALS and that life rights were a part of the deal. The project is apparently a hot item, and Netflix beat out Amazon, Universal, and Lionsgate in a competitive bidding war.

Dominik will write the film with Harrison Query, who recently sold a pitch to Lionsgate about a true-life exorcism set on a military base. That also sounds like a crazy interesting movie! I'll have to do some research on that.

Hardy is a great actor, and it's not hard to imagine him playing a Navy SEAL. He'll next appear in Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk
