Tom Hardy Has Signed On For Three VENOM Movies
Sony Pictures has very high hopes for Venom. There's certainly a lot riding on the film as it's supposed to launch their own cinematic universe that centers around a bunch of Marvel characters that are connected to Spider-Man, but as of right now, Spider-Man isn't involved.
If Venom is a success, you can bet we are going to get a sequel. In fact, Tom Hardy recently revealed that he has signed up for three films. In a recent interview with Total Film Magazine (via CBM), Hardy said:
"I'm open to whatever you want to do with it. We've signed up for three of them. So it's very much an open case. We'll see what people's responses are to it. I think it's an awesome character. I love playing both of them. It's an amuse-bouche, and for Sony, it's the Venom-verse launched in isolation, as it were."
With every trailer that is released for the film, there seems to be a bit more excitement from the fans. The film is currently estimated to open between $55 million and $85 million domestically. I'm still not completely sold on it. I like the visual design of Venom, but we'll just have to wait and see how the story turns out. I do hope that it's better than what I'm expecting.
Tom Hardy is joined in the film by Michelle Williams (The Greatest Showman), Riz Ahmed (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Jenny Slate (Zootopia) and Woody Harrelson (True Detective).
Venom is set to be released on October 5, 2018.
