Tom Holland Has Ambitious Plans to Play Spider-Man For a Very Long Time

As of right now, we know that after Spider-Man: Homecoming, we will see Tom Holland's Spider-Man appear in the next two Avengers films, and a solo Spider-Man sequel. If the young actor who plays Spidey has it his way, he will be playing Spider-Man for a very long time. This is a character that he doesn't want to give up on anytime soon. In fact, he's already pitched his ambitious plans for the character to the studios!

During a recent interview with Empire magazine, Holland explained:

“Peter Parker is a character we see [in the comic books] as a 15-year-old boy and then as a 35-year-old man. So I have an idea of what I’d like to do, and I’ve pitched it and it’s already been taken into the boardroom. It would be really cool if it pans out, because it means I would be Spider-Man for a very long time.”

Sounds to me like 20-year-old Holland wants to continue his journey as Spider-Man until at least he reaches 35-years-old. And you know what? That would be awesome! I love Holland in the role of Peter Parker and if he's willing to play the character that long, I say let him do it! There are so many great Spider-Man stories to tell over the years!

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige seems to have no issues with what Holland would like to do. He went on to compare the potential cinematic future of Spidey to Harry Potter, saying:

"Harry Potter became the example, though Peter’s clearly not as young as Harry was in the first film. There’s certainly a fun potential three-film structure that can be had, between sophomore, junior and senior year."

I think it could and should go beyond that, and Holland is obviously thinking the same thing. It'll be interesting to see what Marvel and Sony end up doing with Spider-Man beyond their current plans. I hope they're as ambitious as what Holland is thinking!

What do you all think about Holland playing Spider-Man over the course of several years?
