Tom Holland Joins Daisy Ridley in the Post-Apocalyptic Thriller CHAOS WALKING

Spider-Man: Homecoming star Tom Holland is in negotiations to join Star Wars: The Force Awakens star Daisy Ridley in an upcoming post-apocalyptic thriller called Chaos Walking.

The film is an adaptation of the best-selling young adult novel by Patrick Ness. It seems like every post-apocalyptic movie that gets made these days is based on a YA novel. But there's some solid talent involved with developing this one. It's set to be directed by Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow) from a script written by Oscar-winning screenwriter Charlie Kaufman (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) with the most recent draft being written by Money Monster scribe Jamie Linden.

The story for Chaos Walking takes place in "a world where all women have been killed by a germ and all living creatures can hear one another's thoughts in a stream of images, words and sounds called Noise."

According to THR, Holland will play "a boy forced to flee his town with his loyal dog and who comes upon a strange sight: a girl," who will be played by Ridley. The two actors are sure to make a great team in the movie. Here's the official synopsis of the book:

Todd Hewitt is the last boy in Prentisstown. But Prentisstown isn’t like other towns. Everyone can hear everyone else’s thoughts in a constant, overwhelming, never-ending Noise. There is no privacy. There are no secrets. Or are there? Just one month away from the birthday that will make him a man, Todd unexpectedly stumbles upon a spot of complete silence. Which is impossible. Prentisstown has been lying to him. And now he’s going to have to run…

Robert Zemeckis was originally attached to direct the film back in 2013, but now he is only attached as a producer. The film goes into production next year and will most likely be released sometime in 2018.
