Tom Holland Reveals He Has Not Seen Two Classic Films He References as Spider-Man in the MCU

Tom Holland is my favorite Spider-Man. I think he does a fantastic Peter Parker and an amazing Spider-Man whereas previous actors I felt were only good at one of those halves. Well, Holland has surprised me in a big way as he has not seen some classic films.

In Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man references Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and then in Avengers: Infinity War, he references Aliens. Holland has not seen either of those films. I know I was late to the party on Aliens, but he hasn’t seen Empire Strikes Back!? This tidbit was discovered by CB when they visited the set for Spider-Man: Far From Home:

It’s so funny, the two films I’ve referenced in their movies, the first one is Empire Strikes Back and the second one is Alien[s], and I haven’t seen either of those movies. That’s kind of a Russo thing, that joke, is the movie references stuff.

You’ll be able to see Holland swing into action in Far From Home on July 2. The film is directed by Jon Watts with Jacob Batalon, Jon Favreau, Jake Gyllenhaal, Samuel L. Jackson, Tony Revolori, Cobie Smulders, and Marisa Tomei rounding out the cast.
