Tom Holland Says Flash Thompson Will Be a Different Bully Than We're Used To

In the comics, Flash Thompson was always a hulking bully who terrorized Peter Parker in high school. So when Marvel cast the scrawny Tony Revolori in the role, many people began to scratch their heads. I don't mean scrawny in a negative way, but he's nowhere near as large as the character who will eventually become Agent Venom.

Comicbook talked to Tom Holland about the casting, and he doesn't seem to be worried by the change in character...

"...When they cast Flash Thompson they knew they didn't need a 6ft 5in jock to beat Peter Parker up. They needed a rich, smug kid commenting on how bad his trainers were. And I did it to practice my American accent."

Essentially, Revolori is a new bully for a new era. While there still may be hulk kids running around and decking kids for lunch money, there are far more privileged snots who would rather run you down with words and harassment. Whether we like it or not, they are the new bullies!

When it's explained like that I feel the move is kind of genius! Its weird the little tweaks you can make to something and instantly modernize it right? Now the only question is, will we get to see Revolori become Agent Venom down the road?
