Tom Holland Has Aspirations to Bring Miles Morales Into the MCU the Way Robert Downey Jr. Shepherded Him

After the game-changing events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, the MCU’s Peter Parker, actor Tom Holland, is finally returning to the role after a five year hiatus. In just weeks, we will finally be able to see what’s going on with our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man now that he’s swinging through the streets on his own.

In the last film, his Aunt May passed away, and he had Doctor Strange cast a reality-altering spell that made everyone forget who he was. It’s a dark place to be in, but fans are hoping he is able to rebuild his friendships and regain some happiness amid some newfound struggles.

But what does Spider-Man’s future look like beyond Spider-Man: Brand New Day? The rumor is that Holland is slated to return for Avengers: Secret Wars, and likely two more solo films after that, but the actor has been vocal about wanting to pass on the torch one day, and he has someone specific in mind to hand it to.

In a new interview with Hobby Consolas (via CBM), Holland talked about his desire to bring Miles Morales into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The character has been at the center of the fantastic animated Spider-Verse films, but fans are eager to see him in live action, including Holland.

"I think at this point in time, we're being really open-minded about what the future looks like," he started. "I know that I have aspirations to bring Miles Morales into the universe, however that works out. We've got a lot of work to do to bring that to life.

“But yeah, I feel really strongly about it. I feel incredibly grateful for the way I was introduced into this world and that I was shepherded by [Robert Downey Jr.]," Holland continued.

"I would love to kind of return that favor to the next generation of people that get the luxury of making these movies. So that is definitely something that I'm really working towards."

It’s a consensus among Marvel fans that have been awaiting a live-action Miles Morales, so it sounds like it’s just a matter of the studio striking a deal with Sony, and writing the perfect story to introduce him.

In the meantime, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to hit theaters on July 31, 2026, and Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is currently slated for release on June 20, 2027.
