Tom Holland Says the SPIDER-MAN Franchise "Rests in Sony's Safe Hands"
Marvel fans have made it very clear that they are not happy with Marvel and Sony splitting up and Spider-Man leaving the MCU. Everyone who is involved with the franchise in recent years that have spoken up about it have been very diplomatic with their comments. No is really sharing how they really feel, and Tom Holland is trying to keep hype and excitement for the future of Spider-Man alive, but the fans are seeing right through it.
In a recent interview GQ, the actor had some more positive words to share, saying:
“I’ve truly had the time of my life, and in so many respects, they have made my dreams come true as an actor. Sony has also been really good to me, and the global success of Spider-Man: Far From Home is a real testament to their support, skill and commitment. The legacy and future of Spidey rests in Sony’s safe hands.”
I couldn’t help but laugh at that last comment, “The legacy and future of Spidey rests in Sony’s safe hands.” Yeah, we’ve all seen how Sony has handled this franchise in the past. They are going to have to prove that they can handle this franchise. For me, Venom is a perfect example that they still don’t know what they’re doing. I know some fans liked it, but it was no where near the same caliber of film work and storytelling that Marvel Studios has been doing.
When previously talking about the future of the franchise, Holland said that “Spider-Man will be different, but it will be equally as awesome and amazing.” I wonder if Sony is planning a soft reboot. I just don’t know how they are going to effectively and properly continue the story started with Marvel without Marvel!
What do you think about Holland’s recent comments on the future of the Spider-Man franchise?
