Tom Holland Teases His Spider-Man Future After SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY Premiere

For Marvel Studios, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has always been about playing the long game. The studio isn't just thinking about the next movie or even the next phase. It's building stories years into the future, and that kind of planning only works if the biggest characters stick around.

That brings us to Tom Holland, whose future as Peter Parker is once again a hot topic following the premiere of Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige recently revealed that the studio's roadmap stretches all the way to 2042, showing just how far ahead the creative team is planning. With that kind of vision, keeping cornerstone heroes like Spider-Man in the mix feels like a priority.

Holland first signed on for a six-film contract during the Infinity Saga, which covered his solo trilogy as well as three crossover appearances throughout the MCU. While that agreement has long since been fulfilled, there's still no official public confirmation from Marvel or Sony that he'll return beyond Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

When speaking with The Hollywood Reporter at the film's premiere, Holland sounded more than happy to keep wearing the suit, but he also made it clear that nothing has been officially announced.

“I will do it for as long as they have me. So, if this movie does well, I guess we’ll see.”

He also talked about what it still feels like to step back into Peter Parker's shoes after nearly ten years.

“To get to do it time and time again is something that will never really sink in for me. It still, today, feels like this is my first premiere for this character. It has been the gift of my life.”

It's a heartfelt response, although it doesn't exactly line up with reports that surfaced earlier this year. Back in January 2024, reports claimed Holland had already signed a new agreement after his original contract ended.

According to those reports, the new deal closely resembles the first one, consisting of another trilogy of solo Spider-Man films along with three more MCU crossover appearances. Neither Marvel Studios nor Sony has confirmed those details, but it certainly wouldn't be surprising.

Spider-Man remains one of the biggest box office draws in the world, and it would be pretty unusual for Marvel to bring Holland back for only one more movie before moving on. If those reports are accurate, Peter Parker still has plenty of adventures ahead.

Then there's the business side of things, which already paints a very encouraging picture. Even before Spider-Man: Brand New Day officially hit theaters, the film had already generated massive revenue.

International advance ticket sales climbed past $200 million ahead of opening weekend, while projections estimate a staggering $465 million global opening.

The movie also made history in China, where superhero films have faced an uphill battle in recent years. Advance ticket sales surpassed the entire presale run of Avatar: Fire and Ash and became the biggest presale total for a comic book movie in the country since Avengers: Endgame.

Those are the kinds of numbers studios dream about, and they certainly don't suggest Spider-Man is going anywhere anytime soon.

As for Holland himself, this conversation feels familiar. Over the years, he's made comments that suggest he'd happily keep playing Spider-Man forever, while at other times he's sounded like someone who's thinking about eventually stepping away and focusing on other parts of his life and career. That's part of what makes every interview so interesting because it's never entirely clear where his head is at.

Marvel would almost certainly love to keep Holland around for as long as possible. The bigger question isn't whether the studio wants more Spider-Man movies. It's whether Holland will still want to keep suiting up several years from now.

Personally, I'd love to see him continue. He's grown into the role in a way that feels completely natural, and his version of Peter Parker still has so much untapped storytelling potential, especially after the emotional ending of Spider-Man: No Way Home. If Brand New Day is the beginning of another trilogy, there's a lot to be excited about.

For now, though, Marvel fans can enjoy Holland's latest adventure when Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters on July 31, 2026.
