Tom Holland Was Not Given a Copy of the INFINITY WAR and ENDGAME Scripts According to Joe Russo

Tom Holland is notorious for accidentally spoiling the Marvel films he’s been in. That’s one of the reasons Benedict Cumberbatch was sent on the press tour with him for Infinity War. Cumberbatch is quick to get Holland to shut up when he is even getting close to spoiling something. Well, at the Indian Anthem Launch for Endgame, Joe Russo told fans that Holland was never given the script for Endgame or Infinity War.

Yeah, Tom Holland does not get the script. Tom Holland gets his lines and that’s it. He doesn’t even know who he’s acting opposite of. We’ll just, we use like very vague terms to describe to him what is happening in the scene, because he has a very difficult time keeping his mouth shut.

While this seems more like a joke, it is possible that this is true. After all, last year at ACE Comic Con Phoenix, Holland said that he was kept in the dark about everything.

I remember for Avengers, the Russo Brothers are like ‘so you’re just standing here, and you’re fighting this guy and just do whatever,’ and I’m like, ‘okay, who am I fighting?

And they were like ‘well, we can’t tell you because it’s a secret.’ I’m like, ‘okay so what does he look like?’ And they’re like ‘well, we can’t tell you because that would give it away,’ so I’m like ‘how big is he?’ ‘Well, we can’t tell you because that would give it away.’ So, I’m just standing there punching the air for 15 minutes and when I took the job I didn’t think that’s what I’d be doing. I’ve gotten used to it now.

This, of course, did not save everyone from having spoilers thrown at them accidentally by the webslinger, but it certainly has cut down on the spoilers. Also, he had been told that the audience had seen the film already. Other reports had indicated that most of the actors on Infinity War and Endgame were given fake scripts with only a select few getting the full real deal, but it looks like Holland didn’t even get a fake one.

Avengers: Endgame will be in theaters on April 26.
