Tom Skerritt Faces Death on His Own Terms in Trailer For EAST OF THE MOUNTAINS
Tom Skerritt is an incredible actor who has mostly had supporting roles in the films that he’s been in, and he’s been in a ton of films over the past six decades! Well, he has finally landed the lead role in a neo-western movie titled East of the Mountains and it looks like a great film in which he offers a wonderful performance.
Skerritt plays Ben Givens in the film, “a retired heart surgeon and recent widower who learns he has terminal cancer. Determined to navigate his final days on his own terms, he shares the news with no one—not even his daughter (Mira Sorvino)—instead traveling back to his boyhood home in Eastern Washington with only his dog in tow. But the journey does not go as planned; the familiar landscape triggers memories and a connection with a kind stranger (Annie Gonzalez) inspires new insight.”
The movie is based on David Guterson's best-selling novel and the story unfolds against the scenic vistas of the Columbia Basin, this is a compelling character study that offers a long-overdue showcase for Skerritt.
East of the Mountains arrives in theaters on September 24th.
