Here’s a pleasant surprise for Smallville fans! Tom Welling has revealed that he and Michael Rosenbaum are working on a Smallville animated series, and they are looking to bring back as many of the original cast members as they can, which is super cool! This is happy news! Welling said in a video that you can watch below:

"Maybe there's a Smallville marathon coming your way. Michael Rosenbaum and I are actually working on an animated series to bring those characters back to life and use as many of the original cast members as possible. Don't tell anybody though, it's a secret, we're still working on it."

A few years ago Welling and Rosenbaum said they were open to an idea for an animated series and that it could be fun. Rosenbaum shared at the time that he even already pitched the idea to creator Al Gough:

“I said to Al [Gough, one of Smallville’s creators], we should do an animated Smallville. That would be huge! I mean, Smallville: The Animated Series, with all the real voices? And I wouldn’t have to shave my head! We’ve got to do that. Can you imagine us on mics doing the same dialogue?”

Well, it’s great to see that this Smallville animated project is actually moving forward! There are so many different directions that the series could go and so many stories to tell. It will be cool and exciting to see what comes of this project. I imagine it will be one of those things that end up on HBO Max.

What would you like to see from a Smallville animated series? It’s safe to say that Allison Mack won’t be a part of it. You know, because of the whole sex cult thing and everything.
