Tombstone Is Selling Candy Corn Pizza for Halloween Because Why Not?

Some Halloween horrors involve masked killers, haunted houses, and things hiding under the bed. Others involve opening your oven and finding candy corn melting into a pepperoni pizza.

Tombstone is responsible for the latter. The frozen pizza brand is getting into the Halloween spirit with Tombstone Candy Corn Pizza, a limited-edition food experiment that combines a regular Tombstone pizza with one of the most controversial candies ever dumped into a trick-or-treat bucket.

This is exactly the kind of ridiculous seasonal creation that practically demands to be tried at least once. Candy corn already has armies of defenders and haters, so introducing melted cheese, pizza sauce, and pepperoni should make the argument even more entertaining.

Tombstone certainly knows what it's doing here. The company is calling its creation “The Pizza Nobody Asked For,” and its announcement makes no attempt to pretend this is normal:

“Conjured in the spookiest corners of the internet, this Halloween season Tombstone proudly presents The Pizza Nobody Asked For. And frankly, we regret absolutely nothing. Introducing the limited-edition Tombstone Candy Corn Pizza, an unexpected flavor mashup from The Official Pizza of Halloween. Candy corn. On pizza. Hear us out… it’s weirdly good.”

Rather than producing an entirely new frozen pizza covered in candy, Tombstone is letting customers create the concoction themselves. The $1.31 package comes with a Tombstone Pepperoni Pizza or Tombstone 5 Cheese Pizza, candy corn to pile on top, and preparation instructions.

How much candy corn goes onto your pizza is entirely up to you. A few pieces might be enough to satisfy your curiosity. Covering every available inch sounds like the sort of decision you make when you've fully committed to ruining Halloween dinner.

Tombstone explains: “This sweet-and-savory creation combines the zesty flavor of Tombstone Pepperoni Pizza with one of Halloween’s most iconic (and debated) treats.

“Add a few pieces of candy corn or cover the whole pie. Your call… we’re not here to judge. Love it or hate it, this unexpected Halloween mashup might just make you reconsider… What Do You Want on Your Tombstone?. Trick? Treat? Terrible idea? You decide.”

At least the price makes the experiment easy to justify. Paying $1.31 for a frozen pizza is pretty damn good even if the candy immediately gets tossed back into the bag.

There’s also something wonderfully appropriate about Tombstone embracing Halloween this aggressively. The company has previously dressed up its branding for the season, and a pizza called Tombstone already has a considerable head start when it comes to October marketing.

This year, apparently, spooky packaging wasn't enough. Someone decided the next logical move was candy corn.

Tombstone Candy Corn Pizza will be offered through three limited drops, each beginning at 2 p.m. ET. They’re scheduled for October 2, October 9, and October 23.

Candy corn itself has survived decades of people arguing over whether it’s delicious or disgusting. Putting it on pizza probably isn't going to settle anything.

It will, however, make the argument a lot more fun. Would you actually eat a slice of Tombstone Candy Corn Pizza?
