Tommy Lee Jones Joins Brad Pitt in the Sci-Fi Film AD ASTRA
Legendary actor Tommy Lee Jones is going to join Brad Pitt in the futuristic sci-fi film Ad Astra. I've been a fan of Jones for a long time and it's cool to see that he's still making good movies! Ad Astra is a sci-fi epic that will be written and directed by James Gray, who recently made The Lost City of Z, which was a freakin' fantastic film!
The news of Jones' casting comes from Deadline, who also offers up some information on the plot of the film. Here's what they ended up finding out about the story so far:
In Ad Astra (which means “to the stars” in Latin), Pitt would play the slightly autistic space engineer Roy McBride. Twenty years after his father left on a one-way mission to Neptune in order to find signs of extra-terrestrial intelligence, McBride travels through the solar system to find him and understand why his mission failed.
I’ve heard that Jones will play the father, and that the film has a bit of Heart of Darkness vibe, set in deep space.
Ever since I was a kid I've been fascinated by space exploration. I've especially loved the films that feature space exploration as the main story element. Some of the more recent films I've enjoyed include Interstellar and Gravity. Ad Astra sounds like it could tell a great story that makes for an incredible film and I can't wait to learn more about it.
