Tony Hawk Almost Made a Looney Toons Skateboarding Movie Called SKATE JAM
Legendary skateboard athlete Tony Hawk recently revealed that he almost got to make a Looney Toons skateboarding movie in 2003 that would have been called Skate Jam. Obviously, the title of the film is a riff on the Looney Toons and Michael Jordan basketball movie Space Jam.
Warner Bros. met with Hawk to talk about the Looney Toons movie because they were planning on pushing the brand hard starting with Looney Toons: Back in Action. The movie starred Brendan Fraser, Jenna Elfman, and Steve Martin.
The movie bombed hard at the box office though, and when that happened the studio decided not to move forward with Skate Jam.
Hawk briefly explains it in this tweet with some promo art from a different Tony Hawk and Looney Toons event:
in 2003, I was requested to meet with Warner Brothers about doing a film tentatively titled “Skate Jam.” They were bringing back Looney Tunes with “Back In Action” & then wanted to start on my project immediately. A week later Back In Action bombed & Skate Jam was shelved forever pic.twitter.com/9giKzBnlWH

As a long time fan of Tony Hawk and Looney Toons, I would have absolutely loved to see this movie get made! I think it would have been fun. Unfortunately, that ship sailed and I guess it was never meant to be.
Would you have liked to see Tony Hawk make a Looney Toons skateboarding movie!?
